small block chev eng code???

Just purchased a 71 ss chevelle 1 owner 52,000 orig mile car whith full docs and while i was going over the #s before purchase the eng casting date and front pad stamp are like nothing i have seen before .While searching for the casting date at the rear of the block there was nothing just the 010 small block eng id # no date.... Finally i found it located right above the starter on the side of the block stamped backwards in ( ) .Then the front pad looks virgin but the stamp has spaces between the assy date stamp like so (example)TO8 15 CNJ but the vin # looks fine .
