My COPO is almost done and its time for brake fluid. Want to hear the pros and cons for DOT 3? and DOT 5?..synthetic VS. regular brake fluid..car will basically be a show car with little driving..maybe a drag or two but thats about it. Opinions and comments are welcome as well as recomendations. Thanks.

We use silicone brake fluid in almost all the cars. Because there is so much nice paint and plating on these cars we have gone this route. Performance seems fine.

Funny this subject came up.
Let me just say that while poking around underneath my new L78 Camaro I found that there was paint screwed up on the subframe. Looked like someone applied paint stripper to it. I popped the hood to discover that the master cylinder was leaking like crazy. It proceeded to drip all over the subframe rail and a-arm ruining all the paint. Having to take everything apart in fear of spilling more was like dismantling a bomb. I have been doing clean up and repairs all week. ![]()

Sorry to hear that..hope it doesn't take forever to fix.
Now, get rid of the repro battery next if you have... wilma

I used silicone fluid in the two cars that I did frame-off restorations on. Had no problems.
Just a thought - are there shows where the judging gets so anal that you would get docked for having non-original type brake fluid ![]()

The silicone fluid is much better for a car that is not driven very frequently.
Silicone Brake Fluid will not absorb moisture like conventional fluid does. PLUS the paint situation... Albert go with the silicone...you will not regret it.
