Fight Trim Tag Fraud

As some of you know, I have filed a lawsuit in Oklahoma against a classic muscle car dealer. In our Petition, we have alleged fraud in several particulars, the main two areas being a fake trim tag and a restamped engine. If you want a copy of the Petition, send me a private message, or

The main defendants in the case are doing business as Redline Auto Sports in Wilson, Oklahoma, a town just north of the Texas border. Redline Auto Sports also does business with Camaro World, in Richardson, Texas.

I am looking for others who may have been defrauded by this dealer, not to file additional lawsuits, but to show a pattern of behavior. It is my opinion that this is NOT the only car sold by Redline Auto Sports or Camaro World with a swapped or fake trim tag, or with a restamped engine. I have already been contacted about a 1969 Camaro with a fake X66 tag, but the new owner is just too embarrassed to come forward. If you are aware of anyone who has purchased a
car from Redline Auto Sports, or from Camaro World, in Richardson Texas, particularly one with a fake trim tag or a restamped engine, please contact me via PM or email.

I applaude your efforts to rid the hobby of such skunks. We've discussed this before. I wonder if it wouldn't be a bad idea to let Ebay know of this legal action, since they STILL say the trim tags do not have "vehicle specific information" and that's why they don't ban the sale of trim tags (not to mantion BLANK trim tags, made to order!!!)

I commend you for what you're undertaking!

Was the main case you're presenting vehicle sold on eBay? . If so, I wonder if eBay's view of fake tags would change any if they were included in the suit? . Tough group to take on surely but perhaps action could be dropped against them if it seemed futile?

I can't help but picture that lone guy in China who stood alone in the street against the advancing tanks....1989? .

I hope the trial Judge reviews the evidence that you present to him and you win your case quickly. The dealer should have to take the car back for what you paid and then compensate you for your legal fees, time and grief. Good luck with everything.

Bravo! I still can't figure out why GM allows a part with their (or division's) name on it to be reproduced without licensing. Someone with more legal acumen than I really should pursue that angle......

No, this particular car was not sold on ebay, although the seller has had cars on ebay.

The car was advertised on the internet, but just through the seller's web site.

Thanks for the encouragement. My client and I are considering mediation (non binding) prior to the discovery phase. Selfishly, I would rather go through discovery first, but that may not be what is best for my client. However, I would still like to be able to present evidence of an ongoing pattern to the mediator.

Any leads on cars purchased from these guys would be greatly appreciated.

Just a thought but how accessible would the Vins be of vehicles run through his State issued Dealer Licence number? .
If obtainable there could be a few that would be worth looking into as there may be purchasers who have no idea they've been had? .
