Default A fake 442?

So anybody else have an issue with this car...I've seen my share of 442's and this one strikes me as very odd...any of you guys here care to weigh in on this one?

I am no 442 expert but, it appears to be a real nice '70 442 that had the W30 appearance items added at some time. The seller is up front in his description that the car is not a W30 car. Other than that I'll have to leave it to the 442 experts to point out anything else.

The VIN will tell you if it is a 442 or not. I don't believe that any W30s were produced at any plant other than Lansing Michigan.

The vin starts with 344 which indicates 442.
In my opinion, the added W30 side stripes are too wide and too high on the quarter panel, but it's hard to tell because the photos are pretty dark.

The owner says flat out its not a W-30...as others have pointed out, the VIN would tell you that too...but the VIN and trim tags really, really bother me...I've never seen anything quite like those...all but one of my Oldsmobiles have been Lansing cars, I dont remember the tags looking anything like that on any of them....I guess Ill stop beating around the bush...they look like fakes...really bad ones too...or maybe I havent seen enough Fremont cars..I could very possibly be wrong, and Im just looking for other opinions. I should have been more specific in my first post.

I've seen VIN tags with gaps before. But if that trim tag is fake, wow, we better watch out for this guy. That thing certainly looks like it's never been off the car.

Also, would help to see a better image of the engine stamp.

Seems strange someone would clone a 442 then "sub-clone" a W30. But I've seen some pretty funny stuff done to cars.....

Curious to know what the extra numbers on the trim tag indicate.

Probably just a pretty nice looking 442 with some W items added for owners enjoyment.

My $.02

Joe

-----It would seem that you could do a bit more googling or pick up a phone and find way more about the car with the dealer and salesman info advanced in the add. If I was faking this car to the degree you say I wouldnt have dealer info in the add, as well as the previous owner info,,,JMHO........Bill S
