was wondering if anyone has information that would help my paint guy match 1967 Granada Gold with something in PPG or Dupont BC/CC?
We don't have a good paint chip and the mixer says they ddon't have an exact formula. Any help is appreciated. We're trying to paint this weekend. Blair

Blair I would suggest you start with ppg DBC base because it has finer metallic than their DBU and Global lines. Is there any spots on your car that were covered up that still have nice paint. Sometimes the hinge pillar post under the fenders has good paint and the store can do a profit to get you close. Sometine it takes a lot of time if you're trying to get it real close. Just remember the old cars didn't have the coarse metallic in the paint.

You mean like this? I've been told by a lot of people that it matches perfectly. Only problem I have is that the painters can not find the original code. It is PPG in BC/CC. There are others who have asked me for the code and as soon as I can find it I'll post it.

Not sure on PPG don't sell that stuff but Dupont has a camera that takes a picture of the paint if you have somewhere left on the car that is 2 in by 2in and flat. If not you can call 1-800-3-DUPONT and press 3 than 1 to get color info give them the paint code and they will get the formula for the paint than give it to your Dupont jobber and they should be able to mix it up for you. If you have the code I have lots of old chip books that I can ck for you.

Have your painter get the PPG rep involved. They oftentimes have add'l resources for such things. That was our experience several years ago.

Thanks for all the help guys!!!
Rick H - That is exactly the color I'm looking for. We started by scannning the underside of the trunk lid, which had original paint, but we're not sure how accurate the mix is. We painted a test square of metal and it looked pretty good right away, but we're thinking it might be a bit dark (needs to be more yellow). Now that I see a good picture of a car in the correct color, I think what we have is correct. Thanks again guys. You're a wealth of knowledge. ![]() ![]() ![]() I'll post some pics after we get it sprayed. It won't be complete, but it keeps me motivated. ![]() Hopefully, it'll be ready by spring ![]() ![]() Blair
