Default subframe bushing tape...

What was the exact application of this tape? Does it just simply tape the bushing to the subframe to hold it in place for installation? Were all four bushings taped? what about the radiator support bushings?

I am a bit confused as to the exact application, can anyone help me out? Thanks!

Hello, The tape is used to hold the 4 body bushings, from side to side of bushing across the top part thru the hole where the bolt goes thru, in other words, the tape ran parallel with the frame on the middle bushing. On the rear bushing it was parallel with the trans crossmember. The radiator bushings had a retainer on them thru the bolt to hold them on. Its in the Assy. Manual. The tape is similar to 1-1/2 masking tape, flat black in color. I think Paragon or Quanta has it for the Vette guys. Hope this helps, Craig

Tape positioning and color varies with model, assy plant, time and star alignment (it was just slapped on to hold the mounts - think about it). The tape on an untouched 9k mile LT1 Vette is natural masking tape color 1 1/2" wide as posted above. Photo attached (I hope).

The pic is not working, and I was all excited to see it. I have seen remnants of the tape before on numerous Camaros but what is left is never enough to form a conclusion as to what exactly was taped to what and how. I am going to replicate the tape on the bushings, however, I don't want to look like an idiot when it's not used correctly.

Chad's recently located Z-28 still showed the tape on one of the mounts. Maybe we can get him to post a picture of it since it is already on the lift and in the air.......

My 1967 Camaro RS still has the tape under the bushings. Not a good picture but you can see it under the rear bushing on the passenger side.

Rick, that is the same place all of the tape is that I have seen. Now did the tape extend down from the top on the bushing/subframe onto the sides of the subframe (left and right of the subframe in your pic)? If so, was only the top bushing held into place then? I apreciate the help guys.

I don't believe it goes down on to the sides of the subframe. I can look when I get home Friday night and post what I see.
