When the spring spacers were used to raise the front end, how much higher did they make it? I am ordering new coils for the front of our 68 Camaro and not sure if I should go 1.5 or 2 inches over stock. Thanks in advance!

Scott, I do't think there was a set amount, but I can tell you from experience...1" is a lot. We put 1" taller than stock BB springs in a 70 Nova SS...Made by Eaton..original GM style...and they were a bear to install...kinda like holding on to bomb! I will try top post a photo...front tires in pic are F70 x 15 vintage polys..

Thats the look I'm going for, not quite that high though. That looks like a whole lot more than an inch! I thought there was a thread on spacers, but I can't find it.

Wilma, Were the springs supposed to change the ride height 1 inch or were they 1 inch longer? Did you measure the ride height difference? In the picture I'd have to guess its raised 2 to 3 inches over stock.

I didn't measure the before and after...car had stock 14" wheels with normal tires....there were also spring spacers in the old coils to help support the frt end due to old age...do you have a BB car..??? I can check some of the other cars and see what the stock ride height is....remember I also have 15" wheels...I'm thinkng about lowering it back down a little..came out higher than expected...we could probably check with Eaton on my order and scale it back a little..

I would talk to Heartbeat City and see what Jim Stubbing has to offer on this matter. I would leave the stock springs in with a little sag before I would go to all this work and not be totally happy with the height. JMO Sam

Needs a set of vintage wheels for those vintage tires. The first thing anybody ever changed in the old days was the wheels you dope! The first thing!
