Is the power brake metering valve on a 1969 COPO camaro supposed to be located below the power brake booster, next to the distribution block (same configuration as my 1967 Z28) or on the sub-frame in the rear brake line? The assembly manual is nt real clear on this and I understand that the Z28, SS and COPOs had the block located differently than the regular power brake cars.

The pressure regulator (located on the drivers side subframe under door area) usage was primarily used on all disc brake cars, although for some reason some drum brake cars as well. The use is kind of a mystery because it was not used in the beginning of 69 and reintroduce in mid 69.
To some it up, given your car is a copo that was built in mid to later production, your car would have one. However nothing special about your brake system or the mounting of the regulator.

Thanks for your response. So to clarify, the valve should be located on the subframe, not on the power booster as w/earlier models?

The valve (round in shape under the distribution block) you are referring to is a metering valve. All disc brake cars with drum rears have it. My understanding is that it provides pressure (preloads)the drums prior to pressure being applied to the disc brake to prevent the car from nose diving when the brakes are applied. Your car should have both valves.

One of the previous owners took the power booster off of the car. It only has the master cylinder and the distribution block in the engine compartment area. I am trying to determine if I need the round proportioning/metering valve and, if so, where it should be mounted. I can find no engine pics of the proper configuration. My 1967 Z has the distribution block mounted to the firewall with a bracket; the metering valve (or whatever it is called) is mounted to the power booster with a bracket. I did not know if this is the same setup for a 1969 or not as someone removed the booster.

The round metering valve is attached to a small bracket that attaches to the outside stud the master attaches to. The valve is located to the left (drivers left)of the distribution block , and slightly up from the block. I think a picture would explain it much better. I will look for a pic later.

Attached is a pic of the metering valve location. This pic is from a survivor Z we will be certifying thru Vintage Camaro at the Camaro Nationals @ Carlisle this year.

I was thinking that the non-power disc applications for the lower pressure reducing valve were all A/C cars.
