Probably done for the 1972 Olympics in Munich. Ford had a similar decal version of their cars, Mustangs, Mavericks, etc.

There was a full writeup of this type of Nova in a recent issue of the Nova Times. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Good thinking Steve...that's probably what they were..
Just thought it was kind've cool for a '72 and somewhat reminiscent of a Deuce stripe layout?.

There was lots of 'Olympic edition' '76 Chevy trucks and vans here in Canada when the Olympics were in Montreal that year.. Haven't seen one or thought of them in years but they had unique white and red paint w/ olympic logos...hood ornaments too I think?.

And thanks Marl...bring it on if you can lay your hands on it..

I know in 1976 Chevy had some special packages for the bicentenial. My brother had (of all things) a 1976 Vega that had red and blue striping on a white base and special decals for the bicentenial.

Can't forget the '74 Spirit of '76 Nova Neat cars, but why not do it in '76?

Maybe they figured it would take 2 years to sell 'em.

I believe this was a dealer installed item. I know where there is an NOS kit for this. It's a real hot item.
