Default Accident on 95 in Maryland

Yesterday two guys from our local Camaro club were involved in a horrific crash on 95. A concrete truck cut them off and they had to hit the breaks hard. The 69 SS/RS L35 Camaro was rearended as you can see in the picture. They both went to the hospital. One was discharged however the other is still at the hospital with complications that could result in him not being able to move from the waist down. Please keep them both in your thoughts and prayers and lets hope there are no long term lasting effects.

Very sad and we hope the outcome of their injuries prove to not be that bad. I sincerely hope that someone stopped the concrete truck or got a license number though in reality he would likely get off anyway.

Joe Sporney and John Banskiver. Joe is home now John is still in the hospital. John was air lifted to the hospital from the scene. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

There were 5 vehicles involved and yes, the concrete truck took off. Police are investigating and have some good leads.

Is this Joes car? Looks like it was a very nice car and based on the photos on your site, he was not afraid to drive or race it. What a shame.

Received the following from Bud S at the American Camaro Assoc...........

"Joe Sporney is a member of the Maryland Camaro Club and is in charge of the Heartbeat Judging at the Camaro Nationals. He owns several Camaros and just loves his cars. I'm sure you have seen him at the Nationals and other Camaro show.

The pictures tell most of the story. This happen yesterday 8/31 around noon time.

Our prayers and thoughts go out to both Joe and John and their families. God Bless.

Joe's best friend John Banskiver was following Joe when this accident occurred and was the injured party in the attached story. He is in Shock Trauma with major injuries. Joe suffered head trauma and course the trauma of losing his prized 1969 RS/SS big block. John's 1968 Ford Mustang was also destroyed. Updates to follow.

Spoke to Joe last night. He was pretty banged up and bruised (now wearing a neck brace) but no internal injuries. He's at home resting. It seems a concrete truck (which left the scene) was the cause of this horrible accident, swerving in front of Joe, causing him to hit the brakes hard, then being hit from behind by the U-Haul truck. Correction: Joe's friend John was driving his pickup not the '68 Mustang. On a sad note, John may be paralyzed from the waist down.

Did anybody notice when the picture pans out on the second link that a really big truck and trailer is sliding sideways towards the cars that are stopped?
