"Tin Indian Too"
If you go here and read the cars listed in the history of the Knafel tin Indians.
http://www.empgmc.com/race/knafelfacts.htm There is a Silver 62 Catalina 421 SD listed by the Name of "Tin Indian Too" that won the 62 Indy Nats S/S 13.4 @108.43, and was a matched car with the Red Tin Indian I. Looking for some pics of that car w/ lettering. Note: not to be confused with the Silver 63 "Tin Indian III" Thanks Mike |

Re: "Tin Indian Too"
Mike,
Arlen Vanke may have insight into your request. Hes' still around and living in MI last I heard. Try a google search. He is active with vintage Mopars.

Re: "Tin Indian Too"
I made some errors in my first post, the car I was looking for pic's of is not "Tin Indian Too", that car was Black.
The Silver 62 was just "Tin Indian", with no # attached to it. I did find a model of it, someone sells the decal kit to make it up. Here is a picture of the model, the real car is however a post sedan, not a hardtop. Here is the model I will show this to Arlen next summer, if I see him at the Hot Rod Reunion. Thanks Mike P.S. While watching a rerun of the "American Muscle Car" episode, "Factory Lightweights". There was a nice shot of the Red 62 Tin Indian I as they worked on her in the pits. As near as I can tell there were 3 62 Catalina 421 SD's, Black, Red and Silver. Plus a 62 Catalina Black Vert, 389 4bbl. |

Re: "Tin Indian Too"
It was actually "Bill Knafel's Anderson Pontiac". If you look at alot of the early Tin Indians some just say "Anderson Pontiac", and later in small letters were the words "Bill Knafels" (With) Anderson Pontiac in large letters. Then later on in the later 60's all the cars were lettered with just "Knafel Pontiac"
My guess is that he must have taken over a dealership by that name. My Dad is 87 and he seems to remember a Anderson Pontiac in Akron. I have some more Geezers I need to ask yet. Mike |

Bill
I should read more closley what I posted ! If you read the History In my first post, they mention this. http://www.empgmc.com/race/knafelfacts.htm "Bill Knafel purchased "Anderson Pontiac" and retained the respected name for several years. The dealership became known as "Knafel's Anderson Pontiac". Here is a shot from the history. Notice Arlens name on the front window. Go into the above site and you can enlarge the picture. Mike |

Re: "Tin Indian Too"
------Mike,,,That Black Whirlwind is absolutely cool. When you blow up the picture it is being towed by another 62 convert with 8-lugs. Wonder if either one of them is still around. You would have thought that my area (Chippewa, Wadsworth, Lodi, etc. would have been a Pontiac friendly area but no. Around my area because of Leohr Chrysler-Plymouth, Mopars ruled. My cousin and I were just about the only Chevy fans. One of my friends nick-names back then was Mr. Mopower. He was actually the 3rd owner of "Old Browny", Arlens second 63 max-wedge that started life as a 6cyl. I believe it is still around,,, in Illinois maybe......Bill S
