Default 396 FOIL EMBLEMS

Looking for 396 foil emblems, found on early 1968 cars.
Thanks, Tom K.

I have never seen these before until I was at a car show in Essex, Ontario Canada last summer. This was on a real nice 68 Chevelle SS 396 car...

That's what my '68 Chevelle had and I took delivery of the car December 9th. I've never seen them on anything but Chevelles.

Are you looking for this style, or the one pictured above?

That is one one. I think they were later ones not early ones. The Gibb cars were built the first & second week of july that's why I think they were later ones which I can prove.

Hi:
Every Canadian 68 396 fullsize, nova , etc used that foil. The early originals with a silver background then GM switched to black but I am not sure at what date in the year. I know all of the over the counter replacements I have seen have been black.I am not sure what they used in the US. If I look real hard I may be able to find a original silver one but how you would remove it from the old bezel may be a task since 99% of the bezels pitted badly and these stuck real well.
take care
joe

Tom, what do you mean about the black area being foil? Do you mean your's is silver in that area? That was an NOS GM replacement from ebay, but here are some pictures of an original taken off a low mileage 68 SS396 built at Framingham. I don't recall the exact build date, but I know it was before December. They both appear to be the same.

Also Joe, I have been able to get nice red 427 foils out of pitted bezels with a torch. If you apply heat to the backside, the metal gets hot enough that the chrome under the foil bubbles and as the glue softens they basically fall right out.
