Default Bobby DeArmond 427 Camaro record breaker article

I thought Sammy and some of you other folks would appreciate this:

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...54348#indextop

[For those that don't know, DeArmond runs a '69 427/425hp Camaro (original Z28 car to boot!) currently in NHRA's newest class, AA/SA...his 427 Camaro was the first to post an uncorrected 9.99 ET in A/SA.]

Yep, Good man! When he ran that 9.99 in Canada it was like mine shaft conditions. he was the fastest at Mission that weekend. Don't know what happened to the Fords lately. Have not heard much from Robert Pond and those West Coast boys. A couple real fast Mustangs and a couple 426 Wedge cars here in the East in A/S and A/SA. We will see next week at Atco. (NHRA National Open) Times should be fast cause the air is good! There will definetly be some sub 10 second runs in AA/SA I bet. Thanks for the link!

With all the cars juggling between AA/S and A/S it's a bit of a "hide and watch" thing!

BTW: how did the 427/425hp combo get the aluminum heads legal?

Stock like SS is kinda getting out of hand. It is all about people wanting to see 9 second runs in my opinion. Maybe they should go back to running on their national record instead of the index. Then you won't see cars running 1.170 seconds under. I believe NHRA added 10 horsepower to the 427 which in turn more weight had to be added to run the aluminum head. I think that is what was done. The 396/375, 4 speed cars seem to be the lick for A/Stick. The novas are jumping in there also. A little less weight and they are running A/SA or A/S with the 396.

Thanks Jim. There is the current run down. We will see some good runs at the first DIV-1 Opener at Atco coming up. Depends alot on the air! Tome Baird and Steve Ficcaci should be there along with some pretty fast Mopars and the Shelbys. I will report back!

A/S is kinda wild right now, with folks going up/down in classes...some of the elite A cars occasionally drop to B to rain on that parade...
