Default Restoring 14 x 7 SS (AO) Wheels

Just pulled these out of the attic today...they are from circa 1982-83. Going to be restored. A complete matched set of four AO Wheels.

I would find that very informative as I'm sure others would as well! Please do Dan.

Yep, especially the formula for the Correct Gray on the backside.

Edit:
Dan,
How about an extreme close-up shot of the Black/Charcoal on the front of one of those wheels. I'll post the same for one of mine for comparison. Let's see if it shows any indication of a 'metallic bleed' in yours.

Thx,
DC

Sam,

Sure will do. However with this resto....they will recieve a modernized version. The wheels will be entirely be powercoated front, middle and back....then they will be masked and the inserts painted black.

Dan.

Separated the tires from wheels, removed the weights, documented the inside dates....and even had a helping hand.

Those are VERY early 70 SS wheel dates. Tips on paints, back side gray, Carbit Company makes a spraybomb gray that is VERY close to original and very durable. For the black insert, "Donnie" here on the site mixes a custom blend in a spraybomb that is very nice, has the perfect degree of metalflake in it and is durable, get at least 3 cans of it, it goes fast. Good luck with them

You might want to check with Bill Rose. He just did the wheels for his El Camino and you know he did it right.
