Default Bellhousing color

On my 68 L-79 nova, 4 speed, was the bellhousing engine color or did they leave it natural? Since there was only one factory maybe they did them all the same?

-----Bellhousing and clutch assembly were installed on your engine prior to painting the engine. As far as I am concerned the bellhousing should have between 3 and as much as 8 inches of Chebby orange on it. It would not have been completely orange, however.......Bill S
