Default Lift stop cable unit

I recently picked up an nos lift stop cable unit (#325875), that I'd like to put on my 69 l-78 El Camino. Does anyone know the story behind this unit. Was it a recall that certain cars got for torque problems/broken motor mounts etc. Were they used on all big blocks and/or small blocks, solid lifter cars etc.

Also: Does anyone have any paper work on this subject, like something from GM or a dealer recall letter, etc.

Any info would be great. Thanks Bill
