This just came up elsewhere. Some early '70 Chevelles still had the flat-bottom air cleaner. Looks like late Sept/Oct '69.

I had done some looking into this as well and I was told by a person I talked to that the earliest ridge-bottom air cleaner he knows of was on an "untouched" 69 Z-28 built in late August. I say "untouched" as I cannot verify that it is truly untouched.

I have seen an original ridge bottom cowl air cleaner on a 20k mile '69 Z28 built in Sept. '69. The car also had the '70 style fuel line bracket for the holley carb.

Regarding the change in the Camaro, I know of a few Aug cars and many Sept 69 built cars with the ridged bottom.
