Interesting story just unfolded here.
http://oldgas.com/forum/ubbthreads.p...239#Post353239 To summarize,a guy leaving a swap meet had a vintage gas pump skelton slide carefully off his trailer on a rural road. He didn't know about till 5-10 minutes later as another who witnessed it,caught up to him & told him.(It was laying horizontally on the very end of his open trailer & only a few feet from the ground before it quietly slid off) He turns around to go back & recover it,but it's gone. Someone actually saw it on the road before him,and scooped it up within minutes and took it home. He never finds it,so heads on back to his home state, writing it off as long gone. The guy who scooped it up,sells it right away to a gal who sells these, who it turns out, lives very near the guy who originally lost it. She finds out about all this, via the internet as people start contacting people. She drives it back to original owners house for FREE,and gives it back to him for FREE. She ate the $100 she had to give the "scooper" for it when she didn't know the real story of how he acquired it.. Only damage to the pump is a small corner of road rash, that's it. Original owner is elated & stunned how this all played out. All thanks to the internet and people helping people. |
