Legendary Motors did have a Yenko in the same colors about 10 years ago, it had another Copo vin'd motor in it at the time.

Not that its any less of a bad deal, but is it a real Yenko Camaro? Just from what little I can see from the picture, it has the wrong headrest seats. Way to early of a design for a Yenko, that I believe could not have been built until late February early March. If its an X44...BKH

![]() Anyone know more of this car and its history? Whatever the whole story is, let's hope the crooks are caught! ~ Pete Below news blurb from this link... http://www.wellandtribune.ca/2016/03...welland-garage - Topic on YellowBullet, reading it makes a fella appreciate this place even more... http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/sh...php?p=47187842 <span style="font-style: italic">- "...Ian Hill's 1969 Camaro was stolen from his locked garage in Welland, Friday. Police are asking anyone who has seen the vehicle to contact them. Handout/Welland Tribune/Postmedia Network Even if the 1969 Camaro Yenko is painted a different colour and its serial numbers are changed, Ed Wiens would recognize it. “Even if it was half-way around the world, if I had five minutes with that car I could tell you if it was my car, seriously,” Wiens said. The “very rare” car, worth more than $100,000, was stolen Friday morning from a home in rural Welland. Wiens bought it about five years ago as part of an estate sale. It had spent years forgotten in long-term storage when he found it. At his business, Wiens Automotive in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Wiens repairs and refurbishes classic cars for customers. But the Camaro was Wiens’ personal car, and he spent his weekends meticulously restoring it until it was in pristine condition. “I brought it all back to the way it should be,” he said. While it was equipped with a racing engine, it was never used on the track. “The car’s far too valuable to actually get out and racing,” he said. But the car still managed to collect numerous trophies at car shows. It was scheduled to be in the Motorama Custom Car and Motorsport Expo in Toronto next weekend. It was hard enough to sell it a few weeks ago to Welland resident and car-lover Ian Hill. But at least Wiens knew it was going to someone who would appreciate it as much as he did. But Monday morning, Hill called him with bad news. “I had no idea what was going on, and he called me this morning,” Wiens said. He said Hill sounded depressed during their conversation. “I figured he hurt the car or something. I asked: ‘What’s the problem?’ And then he told me,” Wiens said. Hill said someone smashed a window to get inside his locked garage. “I was preparing the car for the show in Toronto this weekend,” he said. “It was on a car hoist off the ground. They lowered the car down, they stole the car trailer and some parts out of the garage and the car.” Hill said the trailer was later recovered a few blocks away from his home along with some of the missing parts, but the car has not been recovered. Although the car was insured, it’s not like he can stop at a showroom and buy another one. Wiens estimates that there are only between 200 and 300 cars like the Camaro in existence, and even fewer in the same condition. “That car is really nice. It’s a real pretty car. All the numbers match. It’s a damn shame,” he said. “To try and find one of these cars,” said Hill, “it’s way more than the value of insurance. “The car’s irreplaceable. But I am more distraught that someone broke in. It’s the violation of privacy.” Wiens doubts the car will be dismantled and sold for parts. It’s too valuable. “They wouldn’t strip that car. That car is very special and it’s worth more when it’s all complete,” Wiens said. “That car is probably headed for parts unknown in one piece.” But it will have to be shipped a long way from Niagara if it is to be sold. “If the car stays anywhere within a certain radius, it will turn up. It just depends on whether they were very smart or the typical stupid thief,” Wiens said. “It will be very hard to hide. It has to go a long distance in order for someone not to notice it, because everybody knew that was my car.” The theft of the car was a discussion topic on ontariorodders.activeboard.com website where a member posted: “Ian Hill’s enclosed trailer was stolen here in Welland from his home Friday morning. Inside was a ’69 COPO/Yenko Camaro and race car parts.” Niagara Regional Police issued a media release Monday asking anyone with information about the theft to call police at 905-688-4111 ext. 3314 or to contact Crime Stoppers..." One article says it was a clone. Other stuff says real. A friend contacted me maybe two weeks ago asking how to tell a real Yenko as a guy in Canada was trying to sell him a blue COPO-Yenko. I got the vin and it was nowhere the list. He did more investigating and saw where something had been altered on the paperwork. He tracked down a previous owner in Oklahoma or Texas who built and sold it years ago as a clone. Asking price was about 100K ? I have the vin somewhere. I wonder if this is the same car ?

The vin on the clone a guy was trying to pass off as real a couple weeks ago was 124379N691195. I can't find in all these posts the vin of the stolen car.
