Default Could someone post images of '68 G77-14 redlines?

I was recently talking about the '68 GTO I saw years ago at BJ that had a full original set of OEM F77-14 redlines assembled on it. My friend, who's seen EVERYTHING, and has a vintage tire fetish to boot, had never heard of these. I'm striking out finding an image to show him online. GTODON, perhaps you have one in your basement? They were Uniroyal Fastrack's maybe?

I have a few of those. I got them out of trunks. Original spare tires. I will have to dig them out to take a picture for you. Btw. They are f70's

Thanks for the reply, Don. Requests on this board don't usually go unanswered so long. I apologize that I said two different sizes in my original post-G77-14 is the size, not F77. I definitely saw "G77-14" on the tires of that GTO and here's a link to the '68 sales manual reprinted on the 1st gen Firebird board:

http://firstgenfirebird.org/firebird...anual/P-3.html

"Wheels and Tires - All Series. 14-inch safety rim wheels are continued on all Pontiac series for 1968. The Catalina, Executive Safari and Bonneville 3-Seat station wagons are now equipped with higher-rated, 8.85 x 14 tires. Catalina 2-Door and 4-Door Sedans have 8.25 x 14 tires as standard. All other Catalina, Executive, Bonneville and Grand Prix models carry 8.55 x 14.
Firebird Series Tires: Firebird - E:70 x 14 Wide-oval Blackwalls; Firebird 400 - F:70 x 14 Wide-oval Redline.
Tempest Series Tires: with OHC 6 engines - 7.75 x 14; with V-8 engines - 8.25 x 14, GTO is equipped with G:77 x 14 Redline tires."

Feb '68 Motor Trend article also references car tested with stock G77-14 tires.

I look forward to you checking your stock and hopefully finding an elusive "G77-14" OEM '68 tire.

There was a G77X14 tire size on 1968 GTO only. They were Uniroyal brand 'Fastrak' series. I had a few GTO's in 1970's with the tires still on car or as spares. I had a n.o.s. set in early '80s I sold to a guy with a '68 RamAir cvt.

Here is my friends 1968 GTO original spare tire that is a G77 red line upside down in the trunk. If you look close to the bead at about 10:00...you can read G77.

Thanks for responses and the pics. I feel better now. When GTO DON hasn't heard of your special GTO old tire, you really know its an obscure piece! If anyone can post a picture of the front showing the redline detail, and a good closeup of the size someday, I'd appreciate it.

I'll ask my friend if he will take it out to take pics but it might be away for the winter?
