Default Hell Cat Real World Road Test

Cons:

Tires are Sticky so the constant click of every pebble on the road surface can be distracting
Driving without traction control on is stupid. Anything less than a granny tap on the throttle will light the tires even at 100 MPH. At 60 you drift into the other lane...

Pro's

Silly fast, no -- not silly make that insane...
ZL-1 has been referred to as Dr. Jeckel and Mr Hyde.. Hell cat is always Mr Hyde just in varying degrees of nasty.
Brakes are massive and drag the heavy car to a stop quickly.
165 MPH feels more like 100 in this car.

Reminds me of entries in the SAAC World Registry 427 Cobra chapter noting how many were crashed/totaled, some fatally.

8 speed automatic with paddle shifter. Tell the touch screen you want race and then put it in manual mode and things get interesting.

That's what happens when you have a high performance car and a low performance driver. Traction control makes a Mario Andretti out of damn near anyone. Ask these people to feather it and they think you're making a reference to birds or something. Watch the insurance companies go nuts again just like back in the later 60s.

Just sayin' -- TAZ

I don't think I could keep track/ process 8 gears mentally for high performance driving situations. I wouldn't run the paddle shifters. Heck, I would have thought with 700hp you could get away with just 4 gears. That is how I would like it- though it would still get away from many inexperienced drivers.

The paddle is really not that bad..this is a car you have to respect while you are driving. When you are into the throttle the exhaust barks on the shift points and crackles... you feel like a kid with your first fast car because the sensory experience and the computer keeps things busy all the time.

As it is this is a full on sensory overload experience for a new driver, but lots of owners may regret test drives with guys who are used to flogging 400 HP. For everyday driving I would definitely keep the engine management system in "eco" mode.
