Default Intake nightmare

So..i have this pretty peppy SBC..runs really well and burns tires at will...which is fun..but it has a Victor Junior on it...and its just too much..so i thought id put an RPM on i have and a smaller carb...and then the nightmare started

first the carb studs stripped...then 3 intake bolt head round off..then.no matter what distributor will not come out..so im thinking the pin on the gear has slipped out and its jammed up..so wiggle wiggle..turn turn..no go..so..i pull the whole motor, cuz now i realize something is really wrong...and the horror began..and ive had this thing up over 100mph...now..i'm looking the whole car over...and anywhere the previous owner touched is so scarey..i cant believe i even drove it across the parking lot, let alone down the hiway...scarey...

i think the saying, if you burned your house down while changing the oil..dont build a car...now i suspect of everything..but it did scream pretty good..

wire harness is so rigged, i cant believe it didnt burn....3 trans bolts where missing to the block...one converter bolt missing..half the motor mount bolts where SAE the other metric...trans mount broken and missing a bolt...and everythng i touched was rigged..missing or fubared

what a bummer...i should have just left it alone..tortured the car til it popped...went from a carb and intake swap to a mess

you can see the hammer got bigger til it came out..well part of it is still in there...3 piece distrib..finally broke the advance plate off and pulled the housing out with the intake....

Yup, hate to see you go through this. I think we can all relate to the slippery slope you've ridden.

Italy is great! Found a great rental house about a mile from work. Gorgeous place with an enormous basement garage -- after 2 years without my tools or a garage in Korea, can't wait to get it all set up.

I hear you on the 71 b-bodies. I had a black on black 71 GTX - 440/4 bbl, spoilers, air grabber, Track Pack with 3.54 Dana. Shouldn't have let that one go, but it's one of many that got sold to finance the Ram Air IV GTO resto.

Remember talking to you about AMC's several years ago. Killing me to have mine spend 2-3 more years in storage, but may deliver it to a buddy to get going on it while I'm here.

LS1 turbo in a 71 Z car??? Hp to weight ratio on that must be crazy.
