Absolutely beautiful Dart that's being sold by the owner of 30 years. Although this one admittedly has all the right stuff, I'm surprised by how strong the bidding is considering how early in the auction it is ($36k+).
These are pretty rare - one of 1912 produced in '69 with the 383. Cool to see them being valued by the market...I've always liked the no-nonsense Dart styling. Anyone know what the original application is for that Hurst shift lever? The bends don't seem to correspond to any clearance requirements...just a Mopar thing or what? ![]() Link to 1969 Dodge Dart GTS auction ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Wow, that is beautiful. One of the few cars that I don't mind seeing a vinyl roof on. Of course, I have a real soft spot for the 69 Darts since my first true 'muscle car' was the 69 Dart Swinger 340 that I bought in December of 1970. Mine was a 4 speed also, but had a bench seat and although I don't really have a clear recollection of the shifter handle shape, I'm pretty confident it did NOT look like the one in this car. I AM pretty confident that if this car had a console, the shifter handle would have a dogleg that would bring the knob over closer to the driver's right leg.
My Swinger came with the same mag-style hubcaps that the car featured here has.....I traded those 4 hubcaps to a friend 'even up' for a running, driving 63 Chrysler Newport that I used as a winter beater so I didn't have to drive the Dart in the winter ![]()

I remember looking at a 383 4spd 'Vert version of this car. No idea if it was real, but it was a million years ago, probably was...

I'd say that was well bought.
