Found a very good pair of original Chevy front floor mats for my 72 Nova. But the problem is they are a faded tan. I want to paint them black. Heard black tire paint works well on these mats. Has anyone done this with your mats? What should i clean the mats with before painting? Read that Dupli-Color makes a good rubber black tire paint. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Nova rubber floor coverings are hard to get...and worthy of proper care/presentation.
I would look at SEM products as an option...great quality and reputation. Good thorough cleaning...vinyl prep...then several light coats of SEM color should do the trick. -wilma

If you have suggestions on what to use for crack repairs and patching,I am interested. I am restoring the original set for my 1978 Nova 9C1 POLICE CAR.
