Default Air Cleaner Decals

Looking for information regarding the air cleaner decals for an early (1B) X-66 Yenko. Does the air cleaner lid have the crossed flag decal with or without a horsepower rating decal? If "with", 450 hp or 425 hp? I have been told by a very reliable source the early X-66 cars had crossed flags only without a horsepower decal. Just trying to confirm/verify before I start gluing things where they shouldn't be.

I would just put the 427 flags decal on... if they came with any horsepower rating decal from GM it would have been 425, and Yenko would have taken it off anyhow. I've never seen an original car with a 450 hp decal.

How about Deuces? I know that it is said that Yenko used a razor blade and cut the actual horse power part of the decal off. Has this been the case on the unrestored Yenko Deuces out there?

Yes, Yenko did cut the HP off the decal. I have a picture Marlin gave me of my original air cleaner and it had the HP cut-off. Unfortunately, Neal did not give me the air cleaner when he sold me the car. He told me he "threw it away".

Thats right about the hp rating being razored off the air cleaner lid. You could see the mark on the lid of my sf yellow deuce. I cut the rating off the decal on the yellow deuce when I replaced it. Left it on, on the red deuce. And I used Don's rating of 370 hp. Schonye

Mike you mean this garage?

If you look close enough on the left side of the photo you can see the stripes of Joey's green Deuce in front of mine!

I searched out two original lids for my tribute car, so I could put the crossed flags on one, and the crossed flags plus the 450 HP rating on the other. The first for shows, and the second for "bragging rights" I just picked up a third one which will not have any stickers.....as it appears that at least some originals did not have any. eg Joe's recent pics.
