It is a Cutlass Supreme, not available with the 442 option except in convertible. It is the body style for the Pace Car in '72 (Hurst Olds). The Cutlass S was the the base coupe body style for 442. I've never heard of it referred to as "Holiday", it has "Cutlass Supreme" all over it.

Actually, the 442 option was available on the Cutlass, Cutlass S, and Cutlass Supreme, although the latter on in a ragtop, as you stated.

The Holiday is just Oldsmospeak for "hardtop".

442w30, you must be looking at that cool 1972 442 add that was in all the magazines describing all the 442's. I'd stare at that for hours as our '72 442 was on order.

I know the ad you're talking about. Some of them are pretty rare, like the Cutlass and the Cutlass S sport coupe. But they could have been airbrushed cars and not real 442s.

What was your car on order?

We had a Cutlass S 442, flame orange, black bucket seats, SSII orange wheels, 350 engine. I was 16 when my mom bought it new.

Olds first used "Holiday" on the 1950 hardtop coupe A body they shared with Chevrolet (the hot one). From then on, they designated the hardtop coupes (no post) as Holiday Coupes, and the "post" coupes as Sport coupes. That worked pretty good until 1970 when Olds used the G body for the Cutlass Supreme (common top design with Monte Carlo/Grand Prix)and all of them were non-post coupes. Don't recall if they called thse Holidays. All went away in 1973 when they all had posts and were called Colonnade coupes.

More useless trivia I'm downloading from my overstuffed brain. I feel better already. Now I have room to go learn something new!

Hey Dave,

I hope your feeling better. As for freeing up hard drive space, I thought that was what the beer drinking sessions at Casey's garage were for. Blank out the useless stuff and defrag the cranium!
