Default Determining cars value

How do I go about putting a value on a 1970 SS/L78 when no one knows what the
car is worth? I have a price in my head but the last time I tried to insure the car they
wanted to have an appraisal. Hear lies the problem, most of these guys don’t know
what a 70 Z/28 is bringing In today’s market let alone a L78. Are there any
knowledgeable Second Gen appraisers in the SE Pennsylvania area. As much as I
hate to say it the last guy I talked to was clueless without his outdated book in front
of him which had #1 1971 Z/28 valued at $25,000
Thanks

The most logical way would be to set a very high reserve and put it on ebay. If the bids are legit, that would be a current market value. But be careful, in this market someone mught just end up buying your car!

[/ QUOTE ] Mark, I would buy a copy of Hemmings motor news they seem to have a fair share of second gen cars for sale and it may help you detureman a value.... with this crazy market you might just loose your car to a high bidder...
