The reason for not leaving the alt. wire in the stock location is because the alt. will feed the system and the cut off switch will not kill the car. Running the alt. wire back to the battery or the battery side of the cut off switch will kill all fire when the switch is off.

so your saying disconnect the batt. wire off the back of the alternator and run a new wire back to the batt. side of the disconnect.now do what do i do with the stock wire going to the alternator, this is the same wire that ends up at the batt. side of the starter solennoid.should i remove this wire completely or is it tied into the harness somewere ??.

If the wiring is still in stock configuration, (elect. power is supplied at the starter connection) then you can just tape back the old alt. wire to the harness. Run the new one from the alt to the disconnect.

The only right way to do it is to run a wire from the alt. to the positive side of the battery. You also have to watch out with regualtor wiring.I run a one wire alt on my race car so it isnt an issue, but with the factory regulator you may have to wire parts of the harness direct to the battery to aviod power trying to backfeed thru the rgualtor when the battery is shut off.Good luck.
