Can someone please tell me why so many super cars have wrong cowl tags and Vin numbers. Here is a X-66 coded Camaro that has a build date of Feb. 1969 with a late VIN number? I know the cars are bringing big money, and that's the reason why it's happening... but who's buying these blatant fakes. Another reason why someone needs to start a Camaro registry, in order to catalog cars such as this one.

There seem to be quite a few non car people looking for an investment. They are easy pickings for these guys. If people knew that this site existed and checked here first, odds are that they would not get burned. Like everything else, you have to do your homework before buying. A lot of people don't and pay the price. Buy Canadian. It's the safest way.

Looks like a re-body or had the VIN plate switched. Look for the hidden VIN #'s.

Living here on the Monterey Peninsula and having seen the Russo Steele auction leave town again with all their "documented" Camaro's and other blatant fakes,it's just buyer beware nowadays.Everyone has the "rarest" cars made and they all want a billion dollars for them.

I think Kurt at CRG keeps a log of the ones that are brought to his attention.

[/ QUOTE ] I agree that there should be a place for potential buyers to learn of the blatent fakes. We all know the sites, don't we. But then, we aren't the ones who need that help. Perhaps the folks at eBay or Barrett-Jackson would offer to link potential buyers with this and other sites to protect their buyers investments. ![]() What the hell am I saying ![]() they wouldn't sell as many cars and get those big commission checks. ![]() It will forever be "buyer beware". ![]() Steve
