Default '67 Rcode 427 Comet

I am in the middle of the restoration of a '67 427-425 4spd Comet 202 sedan, one of 22 built. Is there an active member who is very knowledgable on these cars (virtually identical mechanicals to a Fairlane)? I'm going along well but do have a few questions. What a task finding NOS Mercury Comet trim pieces........not like catalog shopping for your Camaro or Mustang.

Take a look at the black with red guts one on E-bay right now. I think the auction ends today. What an awesome car. What color is yours?

I'm not sure how knowledgable I am but I own a 66 and 67 R code Fairlane. We've restored two and are about to begin the 67 XL that I bought recently. I do have a few parts that might help but of course the trim pieces are different for the Comets. Good luck with your project, they're great cars. I don't know of any better looking engine than a 427 with that huge aluminum intake and dual Holleys with an oval aluminum air cleaner.

Here's some more info and a few pics of one:

1967 was the only year in which Mercury installed the 427 in the Comet. Factory documentation confirms that only 60 cars were built with this option. Body styles included the 202 sedan, Capri, Caliente and Cyclone. Records indicate that only twenty-two 202 sedans were equipped with the 427 engine.

Looks like the car that's at the York show each year, one of my favorites - total sleeper

It's not a Comet but one of the best examples of these cars is the old Connie Moore Fairlane XL. It later became part of the Otis Chandler collection and was in the book featuring his collection. Dark blue with a black vinyl roof.

I remember that car from MCR years ago, but wouldn't the resto be somewhat backdated now?
