I have started a 67 Impala 427 Super Sport. Thanks to this forum I found out I have a Super Sport not a SS. Any way I need a new gas tank, I can find them up to 66, then they pass over 67. Dose anybody know where to get one. Thanks

To save confusion from other board members and based solely on the information that was provided, you have a Super Sport with an optional 427/385 hp engine not an RPO coded Z-24 SS427. Still a very desireable car.

Huh? you could get a SuperSport with the 385'r - & it wasn't an rpo Z24? That's confusing!

What is confusing Marlin? The 427 was only available as a 385 hp in the 1967 big car. The Impala could be ordered as either a Super Sport with a 427 or as an RPO SS427. Outside of the dash plaque, no where on the Z-24 did it say "Super Sport".

The part about 'or' confused me a bit. I figured that the SuperSport with a 427 would be equal to RPO SS427,

Very similar but not the same. The RPO Z24 code was much like a Z/28 code in that it came as a package deal to include special emblems, domed hood and special suspension. It is still technically a "Super Sport" though void of most Super Sport verbage. In '69 and '69, nowhere on the car did the words "Super Sport" even appear on the Z24 package. At some plants the cowl tag would even have a "4D" stamped on it to signify the Z24 package.
