Default 1969 Chevelle VIN stamp question

On a 1969 Fremont California Plant built SS 396 equipped Chevelle, where should the VIN be stamped? Engine pad or by the oil filter? Car was built in July of 1969.

Oil Filter. No 69s I have seen have the Vin on the Pad.

I know I have seen other examples of Fremont built 69's with the VIN on pad. Not sure if they were small or big blocks.
