------Thanks, Fred!!! Who is Ralph and how do I get hold of him??? I can also be reached by him if he would like. Obviously, I have a wealth of info and could be of some help to him to straighten the car out after the last owner..........Bill S

Bill, I had never seen old Red Alert before, I'm sorry to say. As I sat there while it was going across the block, I couldn't help but think of Terry. Thank you for telling me the story about that amazing car.

Why was the engine block yellow? Easier to spot oil leaks?

How did the last owner hurt the car?? Thats crazy because he never drove it, and it was in the same condition as when Mike owned and probably before that also.. The car sat on a lift on display and then just before it went to Barrett the motor was gone through..Nothing wrong with that car that I could see other than it needed a good bath. And no the car didnt go to Whitworth unless he bought it after the auction from someone else.

-----Jimbo,,,The answer is yes.

-----JoeG,,,7yrs.

-----Andrew,,, If Im wrong I was mis-informed. I was told that the owner made some passes and holed a piston, necessitating the engine rebuild. The Minnesota owner wouldnt even look at me all the times we were in close proximity so I have to trust that people that I asked specificly to tell him not to race the car without freshening the motor did indeed do that! Maybe he was never given that info. I dont know. Thru channels I offered him a left over set of new valve-springs free. Never heard from him. Maybe he never got that message either. The only thing suspect on the car when I sold it were the valve springs as they had pressure on them for way too long. Changing out the fuel delivery system was a judgement call I personally wouldnt have done, but hey,,,it was his car! The engine and fuel delivery system were very carefully tailered to each other and Im sure you know what a couple of seconds of low fuel pressure will do to an engine with 14 1/2 to 1 compression........Bill S
