I am the oldest daughter of Dick Fletcher AKA Fletch AKA Fletcher Chassis. My dad passed away this past New Years Day 2007. I am trying to gather as much information and pictures as I can of cars he build or contributed to. I have may memories of attending races at Lyons, Irwindale and Riverside. Memories from stories and pictures but most are from my childhood and vague. I would like to be able to pass on the legacy of my father to my grandchildren so an information would be greatly appreciated.

Attached is a picture of Fletch taken in the early 60's I believe. Picture is poor but he is on your right and my uncle Mike is on your left.

Penny, welcome to the site. I hope you are successful in getting the information you are looking for. A lot of people visit here and you might be able to find out a thing two about your Dad. Cool Picture by the way. Good luck~

Thank you SS Junkie 68-69. I am looking forward to some good stories for the scrapbook. Maybe even a picture or two. I have found many with pictures of cars he built with mentions of him on the internet but am hoping for more.

Dee Keaton raced Jack Chrisman’s "Chrisman’s Comet" after Chrisman had replaced it with one of the Logghe Comets. The car had become a little outdated in spite of many updates by Keaton. It was a Dick Fletcher chassis car with an injected SOHC 427 Ford. Keaton was well skilled in tuning a SOHC. The car raced through ‘69, albeit later with a blower and Cougar shell. The Comet ran 8.30s at 170 on injectors. The "Keaton’s Komet" was a regular in Southern California races in 1967. The 427 SOHC powered Fairlane was backed by automatic transmission like most cars of the era. (Photo courtesy of Mike Ditty)

Hey thanks SS. I found this picture earlier but had not noticed something, I'd forgotten that he operated under Fletcher Automotive. That info could possibly help for an internet search. In your picture the name can be seen clearly on the quarter panel. Oh, did I mention I sold auto parts for GM then NAPA for about 25 years. Sort of funny (ironic) that I went into that field when there were very few women that sold auto parts back then. Best part was I was really good at it! Beep Beep! Oh oh, did you hear that. Must have been me blowing my horn. Sorry guys.

BTW, I remember Dee Keaton well and my dad spoke of him often. Does anyone know, is he still around? I think it would be nice for me to contact him and let him know about Fletch.

I bought some old magazines at a swapmeet a couple of weeks ago. When I looked through some of them last night, I spotted the Fletcher name in the article. The Fighting Irish was "built on a 118-inch Fletcher chassis of crome-moly tubing".PHR June 1971.
I can´t downsize it the way I want to. But if you want the article Penny, just tell me and I´ll e-mail it to you.
