Best bet is to get hold of Canada Customs and your US counterpart. With all the terrorism stuff, rules seem to keep changing. They will have the final say and you will be dealing with them sooner or later. Better sooner. Bringing a car into Canada, Canada Customs wants the paperwork ahead of time, otherwise you will be sitting there for a day or two.

It is extremely easy to bring cars back into the U.S. As most cars were originally built in the U.S. a reputable broker will do all the paperwork for a mere $150.00. For anyone importing or exporting cars do yourself a favour and let the people who do this for a living work on your behalf. They do a great job and eleviate any potential problems or worries which you may encounter.

May be worth getting a hold of Geo. Zapora from GM Canada Vintage and checking what using them is worth too?.

When i purchased the truck in the Us the paperwork was sent to the border 3 days before I picked up the truck. I drove the truck to the border with a one day license from the state of New York and my insurance . the documents were there ready . I then paid the taxes at the border (gst) ,they inspected the truck and then drove the truck home.
Then I had it certified by Canadian Tire mechanic(free service)then I took the certificate to the ministry of transportation to change the title into my name in the province of Ontario. Then I payed the other taxes for the province at that time.
The taxes are the same as they would be if I purchased the truck in Ontario. The state of New york did not charge me tax.
All of this info is on the site for the importation of motor vehicles. You can email them and ask specific questions reqarding your situation. Easy

there are no taxes or duties on cars that are 25 years or older going into the U.S. out of Canada. And you don't need to send the paperwork to the border 72 hours in advance when going from Canada to U.S. like you do going from U.S. to Canada.

If you bring it across yourself there is no brokerage firm to pay either...don't need 'em

coming into Canada there's 6% GST tax... that's it

I just bought a Cuda into the U.S. out of Canada - they never even opened the trailer...took me a grand total of 5 minutes to get across the border.

I've takn quite a few into Canada and am assuming it's no worse going the other way back into the states. As a few guys said a Broker is a prretty easy way to go $150 and it's a worry free transaction. Actually most Good Trucking outfits can do it all for you. Good Luck
