Default M22 fine spline or coarse input shaft

I realize the difference on the insides of the M22 and the M21, but what about the input shaft? I sent a link of an auction to a pal for an M22 and he said it should have a fine spline and not course. I thought that both were avilable on the M22 depending on when it was made. Any clarification on this? Thanks

All large output shaft Muncies should have fine spline input. All 1969 and earlier should have coarse spline
