Default 1st time out this season

Went to the Grove yesterday. Fresh trans, new clutch, shifter and new tires. Had some problems with the clutch. Ronnie let off a little in 3rd and 4th on this run because it was slipping. Still have some dialing in to do. We need to be ready for a large 409 gathering in Thompson, OH June 5-6-7.
Enjoy

Real, real nice Verne! Looks real good for the first time out. You and Ronnie are getting that 09 dialed in fast this year. Thats Pete Suriano horsepower, Pottstown. Pa.

You got to love wheels in the air runs. You could hear the clutch slipping. Verne it's fun to be in the 9s

Yep, alot of fun for a 65 year old owner/driver shifting a Jerico behind a "real" 409 motor with I believe steel heads! Ronnie "wildfire" Evans and his number 1 pit crew Verne "Mr 409" Frantz!.

Don't give me too much credit Sam. Everyone pitches in equally at the track. Yes, it is an original '62 iron block & heads (steel fenders & doors too) 3415pounds with Ronnie in it.

Yep. Pete has a very common sense approach to things that make horsepower. Also, a guy named Mark built the new intake which added 25hp alone on the dyno. The crew is also Ronnie's son Scott, Jim Stafford and Jim Torrens.
Most of the credit goes to Ronnie himself. He's raced all his life, and at 64 years of age, he's learned how to grab second in the air.

Here's a still from that run. He has the car set up to leave straight and level every time.

It's a damned shame he can't get that car to hook.
