This post serves two purposes;
First, to get some feedback on what YOU think are standout Muscle Cars for the 1969 model year. Second, to put out the word that we are looking for very special cars for the "Class of 69" Showcase that we will be hosting at the Nickey Chicago Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals, November 21-22, 2009. The criteria is this; 1. Car should be a single year model 2. Car MUST be a "top of the ladder" model, meaning the hottest performance model offered. 3. Car must be a show-stopper! In addition to your opinions and suggestions, we are searching for suitable cars for the Showcase. Let me get this started; 1. Dodge; Hemi Daytona, (check) 2. Pontiac; Trans Am Convertible, (check) 3. Buick 4. Oldsmobile 5. Ford 6. Mercury 7. AMC 8. Chevy 9. Plymouth 10. ?? This show will be built on what YOU, the Enthusiast, wan't to see (and/or bring), so...what do you think? Bashton MCACN Managing Member |

I bought our COPO Chevelle new in '69. Compared to an SS396 with the L78 added, the price was about the same. It had a 5-50 waranty. While perhaps not as quick as an L88 or ZL1, it was immensely more user friendly. Running through the stock exhaust, it wasn't hindered as much as the afore mentioned cars so it wasn't all that much slower. Once the original ring seating problem was cured, I put well over 150K miles on the car and it was rock solid reliable, even starting once at -32F. It was docile in traffic and a tire burner if you wished. Being rare helps.....for those looking for that. There isn't much significant about the car as everything on it was off the shelf. It was just such a nice all around package with good seating for four. I may actually get mine back on the road again some day. You can always talk to Al, Grady, or others for good examples.

Bob,
I planned on bringing the Cortez Silver Double COPO Chevelle and the matching twin COPO Camaro.
