Journalist Paul Zazarine left this world this morning, from what I was told. I know he was deep into Corvettes so some here may be familiar with him. Me? I know him as a Pontiac guy and former editor of Musclecar Review.

Man, that really is a downer. He was involved with GTO's and Musclecar magazines for what seemed like forever. A real car enthusiast. RIP

I just learned of his passing on the Performanceyears website. This is quite a shock. He was a great guy with a great sense of humor.
I worked with Paul at Dobbs Publishing from 1990 to 1994 when he was editor of Corvette Fever and I was managing editor of Mopar Muscle and tech editor for Musclecar Review. I started dating his editorial assistant back in 91. I remember him giving me the sage advice: "Be nice to her or I'll kill you, kid". She and I have been married for 17 years now...and it's all Paul's fault. He was a heck of a matchmaker. RIP big guy! |

I guess it would be an understatement to say that Paul had an influence on your life I can just hear his voice giving you that "advice" We were also saddened to hear the news Bill remembers how thrilled Paul was to be the first one to photograph the Bobcat for a magazine since 1969. He shot the car at the GM Tech Center (shortly after it's restoration) for an article he wrote in this issue of Car Review: ![]() Tony~ Since this magazine came out in 1986, you may have read this in grade school (that's gonna make Bill feel OLD LOL!) We also got some sad news on New Years Day. We lost our friend Ed (ironically, he was also a Corvette and Pontiac Enthusiast!) He was very involved with our GTO club and was currently serving as the secretary. Here he is at the GM Heritage Center a few years back (he's the "taller" one, on the right) ![]() RIP Paul and Ed!!!! Rita,
My wife was Paul's official English translator from 1987 to around 1993, when we got married. She would edit his writings from Florida English to real English. I'd always hear them yelling at each other in the hallway. He'd write something like: "the car needed restored" and she would go bonkers trying to remind him that the correct phrasing involved the use of the words "to be" as in "the car needed to be restored." Sometimes I think he would write that stuff just to get a violent reaction from her. It was quite the fun time back then. Dobbs Publishing Group was a nice, family oriented place and the people there were very much like the quirky cast of "The Office." |
