I am watching an Ebay auction for a nice 442 in Norwood Young America, MN. It's supposed to be a real W30 car. Would someone be able to check out the car for me if I decide to bid on it? What is such a car worth, if it's legit?
Thanks, Dave |

[ QUOTE ] Please bid with confidence on this desirable hard to find documented Oldsmobile [/ QUOTE ] The owner replied to my email with a attachment that was from GM of Canada that documented the car as a legit W30 car. Any thoughts on what else to look for and an approximate value? I don't see any documents listed excep this statement...very tough car though... [/ QUOTE ] |

If I'm not mistaken, that is the car that Gene Wray just sold a couple of months ago. Gene's son, Mark, is the one that does his paint work, etc. His stuff is TOP SHELF in the Oldsmobile community. I bet the reserve is north of $40k.
Edit: Holy crap .... looks like No Reserve. ![]() |

I know, if it sounds too good to be true it usually is. Plus the seller has zero feedback and just registered 9/23. I guess if I was smart I would just forget about this car and consider myself lucky but, it does look like a nice car. |

Just make sure you do the transaction in person. A buddy of mine here in Jersey just lost a $5000 deposit on a 442 when he wired it to the seller of a cleverly hi-jacked ad: the "seller" gave real location info, addresses, etc, but it was all stolen from a legit person. If they ask for Western Union it's surely a scam. I alerted him of my suspicions but a little too late, he wired the money at 3:00 in them morning and the guy picked it up at 3:04 AM.
