Default Chris Piscitello's (Sir_vivor) 1968 L88 Corvette!

1968 L-88 (1 of 80 built)

G.C. Hankins Motor Co. of Raleigh, Mississippi ordered this car for Richard D. Moseley of Laurel, Mississippi. After being back ordered three times, it was shipped 9 long months later by Rail Car shipper #382999 to Zone 24 Dealer #231 on May 14, 1968.

The car was mainly used for highway driving where it had obtained speeds of 160mph before being sold at 17,000 miles to Mr. Van Parkman of Columbia, Mississippi for $3700. After being used as a school car by Mr. Parkman’s sister, the car was sold to Mr. Randy Cockrell of Picayune, Mississippi.

After several attempts to buy the L-88 from the second owner Scotty Slay then managed to purchase the car from the third owner for his father, Horace Slay, who kept the car stored with other rare Corvettes in their collection for 29 years. It had been driven less than 200 miles during their ownership.

The original warranty booklet (with metal plate), the owner’s manual and two carburetor choke installation papers, remain with the car. Also obtained (courtesy of Mr. Hankins), is the rarest of all documents, a Chevrolet Motor Division, General Motors Corporation factory original invoice #S106535 listing dealer’s actual cost and retail of each option by number.

This LeMans Blue car is thought to be one of the few L-88’s in existence that was never raced or wrecked, and is one of 80 produced, with less than half of them being convertibles.

This car has its complete original drive train.
After my purchase in early 2005 in need of a restoration after 29 years of storage, I commissioned Ken and Gary Naber of Nabers Motors in Houston, TX to do a complete nut and bolt frame off restoration. No expense was spared, and many rare N.O.S. parts were used including a complete set of N.O.S Dated F-41 shocks, original dated spark plug wires , and a complete set of N.O.S. 1968 only Firestone Redline Super Sports tires.

The candy store was a fun place to be that day. I was fortunate enough to be able to help move some of the cars around so Chris could photograph the L88. He was wise posting an armed guard at the garage door when I fired up one of the '67 435 roadsters.

Without question, one of the very finest L88s known to exist. Chris has accumulated a "Premier" collection of Corvettes & muscle. Every time I go to his garage, I walk away feeling just a little green.

------Bruce says it all. I also have been up-close-and-personal with this piece of artwork and can tell you all that Chris cut no corners. If the car needed it, the car got it. With that said, this car didnt need much beyond the Nabors careful touch. The original blue interior is very cool. Thanks Chris........Bill S
