Thanks for the support all.
I thought going to the movies with my wife would be good. We saw Marley and Me. That was a bad call, if you have not seen it it is great movie based on a true story about this dog named Marley, and his owners. Marley as a puppy is chosen just after the couple gets married and then grows old together with the family. In the end they have to put him down. Ya, a little to soon to see that played out again, but it made me realize that there is a journey we take that has the love we share that will always be remembered. Here is a picture that I took of Pepper only an hour before we had to put her down. ![]() One more kiss from Karen ![]() |

Greg I am so sorry for your loss like I said before I have been there when I lost my Dalmatian, and IT does really hurt what helped me was after a few weeks I went to a shelter and recued a small black lab. I know it will not replace the love you had
for pepper but for me it helped because It fealt good to help a recued dog it was like he needed me Trust me I KNOW the pain and all most lived it again with my sheltie. this was on another post I have a Sheltie and a rescue black lab the lab I have had for three years now and every time it rains he get really upset have been working on that and I am NOT giving up on him then I have my baby the sheltie Shelties are very smart When I first t got her she would not come to me then I had my accident at work which Now I am on disability and now she will not leave my side and late at night some time I am in a lot of pain she some how knows I can be in bed and in pain when she will give me a little kiss as to say she is here for me I have had other dogs in my life but shelties are special and very lovable dogs and this dog has melted my heart The only problem with shelties is they are barkers and loud I all most lost her This past March she got some kind of infection and needed surgery when they opened her up a girl for the hospitable called me and said she was not going to make it IT was like here we go again I lost my Dalmatian, and now my sheltie It felt like having your heart pull out of you she loved me so much and has all ways been here for me a 1/2 hour later the surgeon called me and told me what happen and that she was NOW in recovery and gave her 85 % chance to make it though the night when I asked him what the girl told me he said that He has a habit to pushing the envelop and he was 98% sure he got all the poison out of her system well that was nine months ago and she is doing great she is here with me as I am typing this and she still worries about me like I said she is always by my side no matter what room I am in She did cost me a lot of money but I love her to much not to try to save her funny thing is when I was young I was not in to dogs but this little sheltie melted my heart here she is tonight nine months later ![]() |

I appreciate your kind words.
After nearly 17 years of being a loyal dog owner I think we need a while before thinking of another. I was the primary care giver to Pepper the last three or so years and it has been especially hard the last 8 months. While down in California eight months ago for my father in laws funeral we had to place Pepper in a shelter. She barks when ever we are not around and I believe that this is what contributed to her stomach twisting. She barely pulled through that surgery and it was quite sketchy after if she would make it. She beat the 15% odds our vet gave her and lived another 8 months. I know she would have made it a bit longer but she was very uncomfortable with her hips not working, she could not walk at all. It was getting really hard the last few weeks and my wife thought it would be for the best on us all to put her down. The last few days have been real hard but as time goes by I will be less hurt. She really was a great dog.
