Default Me....A Ford Owner? Yes if it's a CVPI P71

"It's got a cop motor. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks." -- Elwood to Jake in "Blues Brothers"

Couldn't pass this deal. An '06 that looks like a new car. Always fascinated by the characteristics of the "bulletproof" Crown Vic Police Interceptor, I found this one in Alabama and had a close friend check it for me. It is all I expected and more. It's fast, drives like new, has unreal record keeping and more. Talk about overkill. Nothing is lightduty here!

While obeying all the laws, I was shocked at the response on the road. Nobody will pass it, drivers yield to the right and cell phones drop out of hands like hot potatos when I look over!

So if you see me, I'm just the Friendly Stranger in The Black Sedan!

It went like this.......

Jake: What's this?
Elwood: What?
Jake: This car. This stupid car! Where's the Cadillac?
[Elwood doesn't answer]
Jake: The Caddy! Where's the Caddy?
Elwood: The what?
Jake: The Cadillac we used to have. The Bluesmobile!
Elwood: I traded it.
Jake: You traded the Bluesmobile for this?
Elwood: No, for a microphone.
Jake: A microphone?
[pause]
Jake: Okay I can see that. What the hell is this?
Elwood: This was a bargain. I picked it up at the Mount Prospect city police auction last spring. It's an old Mount Prospect police car. They were practically giving 'em away.
Jake: Well thank you, pal. The day I get outta prison, my own brother picks me up in a *police* car!

Elwood: You don't like it?
Jake: No I don't like it...
[Elwood Blues floors the pedal and jumps over an open drawbridge]
Jake: Car's got a lot of pickup.
Elwood: It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?
[a brief thinking pause while Jake attempts to light a cigarette]
Jake: Fix the cigarette lighter.

I like your new Ford [img]<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif[/img]

By the way they're not exactly bulletproof. In fact they are quite explosive, judging by the number of rear end collisions that have caused fatal fuel tank fires in police cruisers. Ford even offered a built in rear mounted halon fire suppression system in the final couple years of production, ending with the 2010s.

Make sure you check and see that all the TSB's and/or recalls were done on the car. If I remember correctly there was a fuel tank shield TSB issued on the cars.

BTW, you will probably find it is much harder to get anywhere in that car on time since people slow down in front of you and then won't move out of the way in either lane.

To expand on what Steve said, any Ford dealer can give you the full service history on the car, including tsb's. Just go to the service department and ask for an Oasis Report on your vin.

Ha! This is EXACTLY what happens when you drive an ex-Police car! YOU set the speed limit and everybody around you, and especially in front of you, drives the exact speed limit and you find yourself blocked in all the time. A I sold my '96 Caprice 9C1 car a few years that had the LT-1 motor, dog-dish hubcaps on it and Heavy Duty everything. Mine even had cloth front buckets with a vinyl rear seat and a rubber floor covering to simplify clean-up of blood, vomit, semen and who knows what else. Yeah......ex-cop cars can still be lots of fun though.

these cars look awsome in black.

Local detachment had one with the light bar sbove the rear window, it was built specificly for the CV, looked menacing.
