Default '67 Z28 Power Brakes Question

Hi guys. We are going through a freshly restored '67 Z28 and have come across some issues with the brakes. We are hoping to draw upon the experience(s) of board members to confirm we are barking up the right tree, so to speak. The master cylinder and booster are both new and are the correct (reproduction) parts...

The first issue is the actuator rod between the booster and m/c seems to be longer than it should and is holding the m/c "closed". Obviously this makes bleeding a problem, among other things. We have shortened it but perhaps not yet enough. Read on...

The next issue we are having is the booster is building vacuum but doesn't seem to hold it for more than one pedal application. This is great in a single application panic stop situation but isn't exactly confidence inspiring outside of that.

In doing some research and looking at what pictures we could find of our booster it would appear there is some sort of seal inside the opening where the actuator rod is. Our booster did not have this seal. We have located a seal and have installed it. This seemed to help a little bit with our lack of vacuum problem but hasn't cured it. Are we still missing something between the booster and m/c? It would seem if there was another gasket or seal or spacer of some description, our rod length problem might correct itself, as might the vacuum problem.

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions...

There are 2 different length rods the one you have is probaly to long, there is a litle O ring on the rod. there is a seal in the front, one where the check valve goes and one in the back of the booster. if you dont have all the seals in properly it will not work.
