All of the hard parts for Donnie's engine are in now and (almost) everything's back from the machine shop, and I got started on the engine build today.
Barring any further delays and/or snafu's, I hope to have the engine long blocked tomorrow or Wednesday, and the engine should be built by the end of the week. I'll post up a build thread in my forum and link it in this thread once I'm a little further along. |

I thought I would add in a little piece to Donnie's restoration. I stopped at his place on my way back from MCACN to drop off some parts to him. I also brought his drive shaft back with me to drop off to Quanta for restoration. Since we all know how picky Donnie is in regards to his attention to detail , I decided to clean up a part of the drive shaft to reveal the original stripes painted on it and take some measurements.
Cleaning revealed stripes in this pattern... Orange Blue Black. Each one is approximately 1/4" wide and spaced 3/4" between orange and blue, then 1/2" between blue and black. The orange stripe begins 26.5" from the front of the drive shaft (outer edge of the U joint casing) The black stripe is set 27.5" from the back ![]() I even used correct colored Sharpie markers to illustrate! ![]() I am going to drop it off at Quanta on my of my journeys to Maryland in the next couple weeks.

That is some nice detail! That prop shaft is in real nice shape. Anyone have Quanta restore one before?
