Default Camaro Stinger Hood Paint Question

I bought one of the metal Stinger hoods for my 69 RS/SS Camaro. It will be painted Lemans Blue with Dover White stripe. My question is what do you do about the void in the scoop opening? The best I can determine a 427 Vette scoop insert wont fit in the hole without cutting out the scoop. Should I paint it Black or leave it body color? And would you paint it Black and clear over it or paint it semi flat Black after it is painted?

They did it all sorts of different ways back then. What do you want to do with it?

Got a pic of the car?

That Vette inlet (blank) trim piece is such a nice touch of detail.

I have been wondering "IF" it would fit on the VFN glass version of the hood w/o cutting.

My project is to far off the schedule to commit to ordering and such.

Cars I have seen at shows often just have the semi or flat paint on the opening for contrast right over final body (hood) colors.

The vette stinger trim piece does not fit any of the repo hoods with out some work. A good friend of mine just went thru this last fall with his early Camaro. I will say that it really finishes the stinger hood off very well as they look unfinished with out it.

Here is one I did on a 67. See the berore and after shots on the blackout. It looks a little unfinished with just body color. My vote is to paint the inlet area black, looks way better than body color...I think...
On this car I went with 1/8" stripe and spacing to match the OE front paint stripe.
Another suggestion when doing the top white stripe, hold it short of the black out are rather than running it into the black out,I think it looks better, JMO
Now Git er done and show us the pictures...

Agreed. Looks 10x better blacked out. But... and I am just asking, why not cut out and install the insert?

Definitely looks better black! My son Benjamin wants a stinger hood for his Nova, so I too was curious on what to do with that area. How much work is involved with fitting the 'Vette insert in there?

Benjamin's Nova is going to have like 3 hoods, maybe 4! Geez, the things we do for our kiddies.

Because from what I understand it could be a PITA to get one to fit. But it is a matter of what you like too. Sometimes less bling is a good thing.
