if it were x-ram wouldnt they have removed The throttle lever and connected a cable for the throttle linkage most likely? I see they relocated the coil bracket...???

I thought the same thing.....
But I kept in mind that at the time of the crash it already had 63,000 miles on it and was about 7 years old. Pics show added Lakewood bars, aftermarket tires and wheels......etc.
A cross ram then was not an expensive add as it us today (relative) .
Mechanical linkage was common then on a GM or Aftermarket unit such as WIEAND or Edelbrock.....

The secret lays In when the engine and trans was pulled..... and I think it was Soon after it crashed.
Its hard to believe that a blown up original 302 was replaced by a Dealer with a Older Incorrect CE.
A little embellished Info by the seller may be underlying.
I feel the engine was added by the past owner as that's what he could afford in a "used engine"
Who's to say for sure......but the fella here with a connection may shed some light on it.......
After all its really a moot point other than the entertainment value for us to digest.

I'd still leave it alone and preserve it as is.
Its worth much more this way than as a parts car.

Its in the low $4's. Now as of today

What a neat thing to see ......

We are preservers, builders & restorers. .
If somebody takes on this as a base to end up with something....God Bless there endeavor.

I still believe the best scenario is leave it be, preserve it with chemicals to slow down the deteriorated condition

If I'm not mistaken , a few years back they found a Talbot Logo in a British or Irish lake , in such poor condition. ,,,,, that they chemically dipped it and coated it 100% to "hold it together" ......built a mobile display support, ,,,
And sold it at a high end auction. North + $$$$ of the Best example on the planet.

Hemmings I believe. .or some exotic magazine did the feature from find to sale......
I thought what an amazing preservation act

It was a Bugatti. I remember the news about the find in the Swiss lake. Dumped there to by local officials after the owner abandoned it. He didn't have the cash in pocket to pay the import duties, 80 years ago.
