Default NCRS Historic Document Services

I just got my Arlington built LS-6 shipping data report back on my car yesterday. The blue mylar sticker on the driver's door (with the VIN#) states it was built in 3/1970, the trim tag states 03D650 and the report states the GM official production date is 04/01/1970. I only have the original window sticker as documentation prior to the NCRS report. Is this normal to have conflicting production dates? Is there still a way to get my original window sticker validated by the NCRS, or do they only do that for Corvettes?

Bill

Bill,

There were 5 work weeks in March 1970 (four full weeks and two days in the 5th week). I believe "03D" is an indication of when the car was started to be built (production started in the 4th week). So it is possible it was completed/shipped on the 1st of April.

Not necessarily "conflicting"; more like "progressive".

The cowl data tag is specific to the body build; there is some lead time associated with getting the body framed up, welded and painted. That can take a couple days maybe up to a week, depending on line rate and any production down time (either intentional or breakdowns).

The other dates refer to the completion of the build down the final line (body marriage and beyond), probably to a particular pay point like the end of final near engine start.

Cars can show as "complete" on one day (meaning off the end of the line) but still hang out on property for a day or two afterwards as they are shuttled to various other areas for any required repair (paint repair, short line repair or heavy repair). We've actually burned all the gas out of a few particularly needy ones driving them to the various repair stations.

Bill,

We're only validating Corvette documents at this time. We hope to open the NCRS document validation service up to other Chevrolet vehicles at some point, but we have nothing definite at this time.

Thank You everyone for the replies. I now have a better "Understanding" of the process.
