In Michigan you can use an original plate from the year of the car in lieu of an antique plate. It costs $35 to register and registration is good as long as you own the car, no renewal required. I have all my cars registered with original plates.

As with antique plates you are limited to shows, cruises, events, etc, but rarely enforced.

Spring Carlisle is right around the corner. There are several guys selling plates there. That is where I found "302" plates for my 69!
