The stripes across the top are a bit interesting. Personal taste for sure. Not sure if it still has the original engine or not. Seems to kind of dance around that.
Lots of changes in the details. Kind of common on these cars. The woodgrain around the instruments-shifter isn't original, but something someone cut out of a thin veneer. The wiper arms are for a hidden wiper option, but the wiper motor isn't. Lots of little things like that scattered around. Nice car though.

He has a picture of the engine pad. What makes you think it's not the original block?

Didn't see that photo. I guess the description...he wasn't doing the usual "matching numbers", "real deal", etc hyperbole. It caught me off guard.

Engine stamp looks good to me. Interesting comparison on the axle code:
The BAT car was built the same week as my 70Z, approx 1500 cars before mine and has a March 3rd stamped axle (COZ 3.73). My car has a Feb 11th stamped axle (almost 3 weeks earlier) but is a 4.10 gear COO code. I guess the lower production 4.10 axles sat for a while longer than the standard 3.73 rears waiting for a car needing that option. I like the car...wish I had room.

I chalk that up to owning a car for half a century. Just not that big of a deal to him after all these years. Shame he redid the seats.
